Results: Victory!!! November 14, 2001 Trader Joe's announced they were going to stop using genetically engineered ingredients in their store brand products.
Action:The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed a policy that does not require labeling or any pre-market safety testing of gene altered crops. Don't let FDA keep you in the dark about your food! Tell FDA that consumers have a right to know what is in our food!

Results: The FDA announced that they would not require mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food ingredients.
In response, over 600,000 public comments were sent to the agency, demanding labeling. So far, the FDA has refused to act.
Action:The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering approving StarLink Corn. StarLink is the unapproved corn that has contaminated at least 300 recalled products. Its maker, Aventis, is asking the agency to ignore warnings about potential human health effects and approve for human consumption the StarLink corn that has already been grown. Tell the EPA to put consumer health before industry convenience -- don't approve StarLink corn!

Results: Victory!! The Scientific Advisory Panel of the EPA found that StarLink corn was a potential food allergen. Following this decision, the EPA announced that despite biotech industry appeals, StarLink corn would not be allowed for human consumption.
